The Serious Side of Purim: Assimilation, Antisemitism, and Esther
Purim is a Jewish carnival, a holiday for having fun and laughing at ourselves and the world. Yet, the Book of Esther, itself a farce that takes aim at various serious issues that faced the Jews of ancient Persia – and us. We will read key sections of the megillah, and consider the lessons the ancient Persian Jewish community is sharing with us across the centuries. Please Register. With Rabbi Edleson.
