God in Search of Man (Heschel)

Abraham Joshua Heschel's God in Search of Man reframes religious life as a response to being sought rather than a search we undertake alone. Participants will work through Heschel's core arguments together and leave with language for talking about faith, wonder, and observance that goes beyond the familiar categories. The series opens in person, moves to independent reading over the winter and spring, and reconvenes by Zoom to discuss the book.

January 10: Brunch and Learn, 11:00 AM–12:30 PM. (Read Chapter 1 before this session.)
Location: In-person. 

January 10 – May 5: Independent reading and discussion questions per syllabus, while Rabbi Edleson is on sabbatical. Location: independent study; keep a journal for notes.

May 5, 19, 26 & June 2, 9: 7–9 PM.
Location: Zoom.
