Beyond Discontent: Building Positive Relationships, Especially for the Jewish Community

Co-sponsored with Temple Sinai, Ohavi Zedek, Ruach haMaqom, Braver Angels, and Jewish Communities of Vermont

Date: October 11

Time: 1:00 – 5:00 PM

Instructors: Dr. Beth Malow (author talk); Braver Angels facilitators (workshop)

Location: In-person – Ohavi Zedek Social Hall, 188 North Prospect Street, Burlington, VT.

Do you ever feel scared or angry with those "other people"? Do you avoid talking to them, or have you given up on some relationships altogether? This afternoon offers two ways in: at 1:00 PM, Vermont author Dr. Beth Malow discusses her book Beyond the Politics of Contempt: Practical Steps to Build Positive Relationships in Divided Times, followed by Q&A and a book signing. At 3:00 PM, Braver Angels leads a 90-minute facilitated workshop, Depolarizing Ourselves, customized for the Jewish community and built to help participants engage across political divides without treating disagreement as enmity. Come to one session or both; open to all.
