Sukkot/Simchat Torah

Sukkot, the Festival of Booths, is a seven-day harvest festival that begins five days after Yom Kippur, on the 15th of the Hebrew month of Tishrei. The holiday commemorates the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert and lived in temporary booths after God led them out of slavery in Egypt. To celebrate, make your own sukkah (booth) or visit the one at Temple Sinai. Many families eat in their sukkah for the duration of the holiday and even camp out for the night!

After Sukkot, we have Simchat Torah. All year, we’ve been reading a little bit of the Torah every Shabbat. On Simchat Torah, we finish, and right away, we start all over again, so there’s no point in the year when we’re not learning Torah.

Celebrate with us at Temple Sinai and on your own.
